Jermiah Luedtke scored two goals in a four-minute span in the third period to lift the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 4-3 win over the Surrey Eagles Friday at the Coliseum.
Luedtke's first goal of the game tied the contest at 3-3 at the 12:58 mark of the third period. His second goal was the eventual game winner at the 16:16 mark.
The Eagles pulled their netminder Daniel Davidson with 90 seconds left in regulation for the extra attacker but their valiant effort didn't produce the tying goal.
It was part of a four-point night for Luedtke, the Kings 20-year-old forward who also picked up a pair of assists.
It was Prince George's third-straight win, as the Kings now improve to 22-19-0-4 with 48 points in the B.C. Hockey League's Mainland Division. They clinched a playoff spot with Thursday's 2-1 win over the Eagles.
Surrey falls to 7-35-0-3 with 17 points.
Friday, Cole Plotnikoff scored Surrey's go-ahead goal at the 8:59 mark of the third period to break a 2-2 tie.
Michael Buonincontri tied the game up at 2-2 after he slid the puck underneath
Surrey netminder Davidson on a tic-tac-toe passing play with linemates Chad Staley and Luedtke.
Trailing 2-0, Staley knocked the puck in on a goal-mouth scramble with 1:40 left in the first period for the Kings first goal of the game.
Surrey skated out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period on goals from Ben Vikich (power play) and Logan Webber.
Prince George outshot Surrey 34-27 as Kings netminder Jesse Jenks earned his 13th win of the season.
