Kings lose in Coquitlam

The Prince George Spruce Kings lost 6-3 on the road to the Coquitlam Express on Friday night. The Express took an early lead just after the six minute mark with a goal by Adam Rockwood.

Brent Lashuk tied it up for the Kings at 14:17 in the first with an unassisted goal, only to have the Express' Marc Blega take back the lead for Coquitlam.

Marco Ballarin tied it up again for the Kings under a minute into the second period, but then the Express took over.

Jace Hennig, Bo Pieper, Joey Santucci and Canon Pieper each found the back of the Spruce Kings' net during the second period. Piper's goal was during a powerplay caused by penalty to the Kings' Jake LeBrun for closing his hand on the puck.

The Kings got a third goal from Braiden Epp, but trailed by three at the end of the second period.

Both teams went scoreless in the third, allowing the Express to hold on for a 6-3 win.

The Express outshot the Spruce Kings 35-25 - keeping the pressure up on goalie Alex Murray.

The Spruce Kings are on a break until Dec. 14-15, when they'll host the Chilliwack Chiefs for two games.
