The Prince George Spruce Kings have acquired NCAA college-bound forward Keegan Ward from the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League in a trade for future considerations.
Ward, a six-foot-two, 200-pound, 19-year-old native of Galesburg Mich., has played three seasons in the USHL, the top junior league in the United States. in 34 games with the Lancers last season he had a goal and two assists as well as 121 penalty minutes. In 95 career USHL games the past three years he had three goals seven points and 311 penalty minutes.
Ward is a Northern Michigan University recruit, expected to join the Division 1 Wildcats next season on a scholarship.
"We are excited to add Keegan to our organization," said Kings general manager Mike Hawes, in a team release. "He is a great young man, a good teammate and will add some energy to our forward group. Keegan plays an honest game and will come in here and provide a physical element to our team while being a good contributor in both ends of the rink."
The Kings are on the road this week for games Thursday in Surrey and Friday in Coquitlam.
