Michael King's rather large body will fill a spot on the blueline of the Westside Warriors next B.C. Hockey League season.
King, a six-foot-four, 198-pound local defenceman, has agreed to play for the Warriors, even though the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League badly wanted him in one of their jerseys. The Ice selected King in the third round, 59th overall, in the 2008 WHL bantam draft.
"We phoned Kootenay and told them that I was going BCHL and was going for a scholarship," King said. "They phoned quite a few times after that, wanting to talk and stuff but I think I made the right choice."
