The 20-year-old sophomore has been stringing wins together playing for the Doane College Tigers in Crete, Neb., in the NAIA Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Kiland was named GPAC male tennis player of the week on March 31, after he helped the Tigers to a 9-0 team victory over Nebraska Weslayan University. Kiland won his No. 2 singles match, defeating Pedro Betham in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.

The Kelly Road secondary school graduate also teamed up with Aaron Cook for a No. 3 doubles win over Christian Cannon/Jordan Pieper, winning 8-0.

Last weekend the Tigers traveled to Omaha, Neb., to face the Creighton University Bluejays and lost the team event 7-0.

In the No. 1 men's singles match as Doane's top-ranked player that week, Kiland lost to Jake Norman 6-4, 6-1. Kiland and Cook went on to lose their No. 2 doubles match 8-1 to Harrison Lang/Nick Thompson.

Kiland's singles record this season is 5-3. He and Cook are 7-1 in doubles play in 2015.

The Tigers host Hastings College in their next GPAC team event Tuesday in Crete. The GPAC season wraps up April 27 in Seward, Neb., against Concordia University.

At the conclusion of the GPAC playoffs and once his studies as a chemistry major are complete Kiland plans to return to Prince George, where he's been hired as the tennis pro at the Prince George Tennis Club.
