Having fun in the house is the name of the game for youth every Wednesday.

The junior curling program is being delivered again on Wednesdays, including today, from 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. until March 25 at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.

Since the junior program made its return to the ice on Jan. 7, about 20 kids between the ages of nine and 17 have learned the ins and outs of the game.

And new curlers are still welcome to get in on the fun. All athletes need to bring is a clean pair of running shoes. Sliders and brooms will be provided.

"At this stage of the game, we're trying to get them out of the hack and work on their balance," said junior coach Tracey Jones, who's being helped by long-time curler and coach Wayne Colliss. "We want them to have fun and learn about a new sport. We want to keep it fun.

"With the older ones [who know the game], we want to get them going on a team and show them the team dynamic."

The Little Rocks program for curlers between the ages of five and eight is run simultaneously with the juniors.

Besides this afternoon, remaining dates are Jan. 28, Feb. 4, March 4, 11, 18, and 25. The last day on March 25 includes a turkey shoot and dinner.

Due to the Canada Winter Games bonspiel taking over the club, there will not be any curling on Feb. 11, 16 and 25.

Jones said anyone who wants to find out more about the game is welcome to try it out one day for free.

If they choose to join, the $60 cost will be pro-rated upon registration.

Those who are interested can call the curling office at 250-562-0357 ext. 104.
