Prince George's Logan Jewell was in the thick of the battle but wasn't rewarded with a trip to the podium.
In the ARCA OK Tire Sportsman Series Billy Barker Days 100, held Saturday night at Quesnel's Goldpan Speedway, the local stock car driver finished fourth behind race winner Mark Berriau, runner-up Ian Graham and third-place man Dave Olson. The 22-year-old Jewell pulled off a late-race pass of Chris Babcock to move into fourth but couldn't overtake any of the top three cars before the checkered flag flew.
Bob Williams of Prince George won the A heat and fought his way to fifth place in the main event.
The Billy Barker Days 100 was the fourth event on the six-race ARCA schedule.
Jewell, a winner earlier this season in Williams Lake, sits fourth in the points standings with 269. Berriau (321), Graham (298) and Olson (282) own the top three positions. Williams, meanwhile, is in 12th place with 144 points. He missed the first two race weekends of the season.
Next up on the series is a stop in Agassiz on Aug. 11. The final race of the season is Sept. 8 in Vernon.
Berriau, from Penticton, is gunning for his second consecutive points championship and third in the past four years.
