Unfortunately for the Prince George Spruce Kings goaltender and his Canada West teammates at the World Junior A Hockey Challenge in Yarmouth, N.S., Jenks couldn't hold off the Russians.

Jenks gave up five goals on 33 shots in a 5-2 loss to Russia in Friday's semifinal, but put that behind him and helped his team win the bronze medal Saturday, making 21 stops in a 5-3 triumph over Switzerland.

In the bronze-medal game, Jeff Wight of the Coquitlam Express scored the winner with 2:19 left in the third period and Dylan Hollman (Spruce Grove Saints, AJHL) added an empty-net goal with 12 seconds left. BCHL veterans Steen Cooper (Cowichan Valley Capitals) and Pail Stoykewych (Penticton Vees) and AJHL forward Nicholas Jones (Sherwood Park Crusaders) also scored for Canada West, which built a 3-0 lead by the midway point of the second period.

Jenks, an 18-year-old native of Crofton, is expected to return to Prince George this week and should be with the Spruce Kings when they host the Surrey Eagles in a weekend series at the Coliseum
