Once again, Dave Jenkins Jr. was a force on the floor. Now, his College Heights Pub Assault team is two wins away from a playoff championship in the Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association.

Tuesday night at Kin 1, Jenkins scored five goals and added two helpers for the Assault, which beat the defending-champion BX Pub Bandits 11-5 in Game 2 of the best-of-seven final. In Game 1, which ended 13-11 in favour of the Assault, Jenkins burned the Bandits for nine points (seven goals, two assists).

On Tuesday, the teams were tied 2-2 after the first period and the Assault was up 5-2 after the second. Jenkins scored the winning goal, a power-play marker, at the 8:11 mark of the third period. At the time, Drew Doig of the Bandits was serving a slashing penalty.

Dominic Sia and John Makowsky added two goals each for the winners, while Josh Kelly and Chad Martin fired singles.

Mike Engbrecht replied with two goals and three assists for the Bandits. Cole Paciejewski, Doig and Colton Poulin had BX Pub's other goals.

In the nets, Russ Mills made 62 stops for the Assault, while Tyler Gould blocked 61 shots for the Bandits.

The Bandits also lost the first two games to the Assault in last year's playoff final. The Bandits then roared back to win the next four and the series.

Game 3 is Thursday at Kin 1. The opening face-off will be at 8 p.m.
