If the baseball world wasn't already tuned into what Prince George's Jared Young has been up to since getting called up to the Chicago Cubs, it is now.
The 27-year-old from Prince George hit his second triple in lass than a day to score two runs and trigger a four-run fourth inning Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field to help the Cubs snap a losing streak with a 10-1 victory over the visiting Cleveland Guardians.
Playing first base, Young also singled in the third inning off Guardians starter Cal Quantrill and went 2-for-3 and scored two runs before he was replaced by Trey Mancini in the seventh inning.
In three games since getting called up earlier this week from triple-A Iowa, Young has had four hits for 11 total bases in nine at-bats. He hit his first career major league home run on Wednesday against Philadelphia and followed that up on Thursday with a triple against the Phillies.
Young is now hitting .444 with a 1.666 OPS (on-base percentage plus slugging).
The Cubs will be back on the field to face the Guardians Saturday at 4:15 p.m. PT. The series wraps up Sunday at 11:20 a.m. PT. Go to mlb.com to watch the livestream feed.
The Cubs then visit Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Yankees in games that lead up to the all-star break.
