After a one-year delay, the UNBC Northern Timberwolves basketball teams are on the verge of finding out if they have a future in the Canada West Universities Athletic Association.
The CWUAA is beginning its annual general meeting Tuesday at the University of Victoria. At the gathering, UNBC president Dr. George Iwama and former men's basketball coach Zane Robison will present the school's case for inclusion in basketball. UNBC formally applied for Canada West basketball membership in July of 2008. Last May, at its AGM in Calgary, the CWUAA deferred for one year a decision on that application.
"I think it will go very positively," Robison said of the presentation and the potential reaction to it by CWUAA directors. "They are following the process that they've laid out and we've done everything correctly so far."
