The Northern Interior Ice Kings were rulers of the rink for most of the weekend. Unfortunately, when a gold medal was up for grabs, they couldn't quite reach it.
The Ice Kings, a local spring hockey team stocked with 1999-born talent, took a 6-0 record into the championship game of the White Spot Legendary Cup, held in Langley on the weekend. In Monday's final, the Kings skated against the West Coast Warriors -- a team that featured players from Squamish to Seattle -- and lost 3-2. Kolby Page scored both goals for the Ice Kings.
In their seven games, the Kings were led offensively by Trey Thomas, who piled up 12 points. Matthias Urbanski finished with 10 points and Page had nine.
