HNIC calls Connolly

Prince George Cougars forward to be among draft prospects on TV Friday

Brett Connolly is going to the Stanley Cup final.

The 18-year-old Prince George Cougars left winger will be featured on the Hockey Night in Canada CBC broadcast Friday night in Philadelphia. Connolly will be a first-intermission guest in a live interview with Ron MacLean and Don Cherry during Game 4 of the final series between the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks.

"I'm really looking forward to speaking with Ron and Don on Hockey Night in Canada," said Connolly. "Not many guys get that chance and it's definitely an honour that I got picked. I watch Grapes (Cherry) on TV and it will be a lot of fun to meet him.

"It's cool, I get to go down there with my dad (Pat). Just being at the Stanley Cup final will be a really neat experience for me."

Connolly will be joined by four other NHL prospects -- Taylor Hall, Tyler Seguin, Erik Gudbranson and Cam Fowler. All are expected to be selected early in the NHL entry draft, June 25-26 in Los Angeles.

Friday's game starts at 5 p.m., PDT. The Blackhawks lead the series 2-1.
