Two days after posting the best result of her IBU World Cup biathlon season, Megan Heinicke will try for the elusive medal podium again today in Kontiolahti, Finland.

The 25-year-old from Prince George will start 62nd out of 87 skiers entered in the second women's 7.5-kilometre sprint.

Heinicke was bang-on with her shooting in the first sprint on Thursday, taking advantage of calm conditions and spring-like temperatures to hit nine of 10 targets on her way to a 15th place finish.

Heinicke finished her sprint in 21 minutes 48.1 seconds, 1:11.8 behind the gold-medal pace of Kaisa Makarainen of Finland (20:36.3) and 49.1 seconds behind bronze medalist Mari Laukkanen of Finland (20:59.0) who shot clean to claim her first World Cup medal. Olga Zaitseva of Russia won silver (20:42.4), 6.1 seconds behind Makarainen.

Rosanna Crawford of Canmore was the top Canadian in 13th place (21:42.1), with one miss on the range, while Zina Kocher of Red Deer placed 23rd (22:07.4). Crawford will be the second skier out of the gate today, while Kocher will start 47th.
