Megan Heinicke of Prince George and Rosanna Crawford of Canmore have qualified for today's women's World Cup pursuit in Anholz, Italy.
Crawford had one miss on the range and finished 29th as the top Canadian in Friday's 7.5-kilometre sprint, 1:47 behind gold-medalist Darya Domracheva of Belarus, while Heinicke had two misses and was 40th overall, 2:07 behind the winning pace.
Kaisa Makarainen of Finland was 26.9 seconds behind Domracheva in second place, while Laura Dahlmeier of Germany was third, 50.4 seconds behind.
In other Canadian results, Julia Ransom was 76th and Audrey Vaillancourt of Quebec was 83rd. The four Canadian women are entered in Sunday's relay.
In the men's 10 km sprint race on Thursday, Brendan Green of Hay River, N.W.T finished fifth.
Simon Schempp of Germany posted his second successive biathlon World Cup win ahead of second-place Russia's Evgeniy Garanichev and third-place Jakov Fak of Slovenia. Green shot cleanly and ended up 24.4 seconds off the winning pace.
Green and Christian Gow of Canmore qualified for today's top-60 pursuit and will team up with Scott Gow of Canmore and Nathan Smith of Calgary for the men's relay on Sunday.
