Hampole figures in Surrey skating event

Three months ago at the Canada Winter Games, Justin Hampole lived up to incredible pressure as the hometown favourite and won the pre-novice men's figure skating bronze medal.

Friday in Surrey, the 13-year-old Hampole will have his chance to shine in the spotlight once again. He's among a group of 20 skaters from the Northern B.C. Centre For Skating entered in the Super Series competition this weekend in Surrey.

Hampole will be the first skater from his club to hit the ice Friday morning with his short program, part of the novice under-17 men's event from 9:35-10:25 a.m. The Grade 8 Duchess Park secondary school student has his free skate scheduled for Saturday from 8:55-9:55 a.m.

Other Northern B.C. Centre for Skating competitors included on the Friday schedule are Olivia Wankling (pre-juvenile under-14), Camilla Kiland (STAR 3 girls), Tessa Child (STAR 1 girls), Myah Milner (juvenile women under 14), Ethan Hayne (STAR 3 boys) and Sydney Hoar (STAR 4 girls under-13).

Also skating on Saturday are: Reese Johnson (juvenile men under-14), Alex Callaway (STAR 4 girls under-10), Jessie Drover (STAR 4 girls under-10), Makenzie Domhof (STAR 5 girls under-10), Kailey Logan (STAR 5 girls under-10), Emma Child (STAR 2 girls), Mckenzie Friesen (STAR 2 girls) and Bethanie Child (STAR 2 girls).

The Sunday schedule includes Shelby Scott (junior silver), Olivia Trampuh (junior silver), Mary Chidiac (junior silver and bronze interpretive), Ally Norum (pre-juvenile under-11) and Alicia Hayne (senior bronze).
