A quartet of Prince George gymnasts returned with plenty of trinkets from a meet in Coquitlam last weekend.
Alia Wilson led the way for the Prince George Gymnastic Club athletes at Winterfest 2013 on Saturday bringing home gold medals in vault, beam, floor and the all-around in the pre-novice aspire division, while placing second on uneven bars. Wilson will spend the next month preparing for her next competition, the Langley Invitational/western trials, in Surrey when the calendar flips to March. The Langley competition is March 9-10.
Two gymnasts competed in the level 3 novice division. Rhiana Palfy had a strong showing with a gold medal on uneven bars and a fourth-place finish on floor and a sixth-place finish on beam, while Mekenna Parker showed she made the right decision to move up to the division this season, taking bronze on uneven bars and finishing fourth on vault, fifth on beam and sixth on floor.
Reid Powers, new to the Prince George club this season, also competed in Coquitlam, earning gold on uneven bars, beam, floor and all-around and bronze on vault in the level 2 novice division.
The next competitions for Powers, Palfy and Parker are the Zone 8 championship in Quesnel, Feb. 9-10 and the Flip City Invitational in Abbotsford, Feb. 23-24.
Prince George will host its annual Ice Breaker club meet Saturday.
