The Prince George Gymnastics Club sent its competitive boys and girls to the final meets of the season last weekend. The boys travelled to Quesnel while the girls attended the Aloha Invitational in Smithers.
The three boys who competed were Evan Weis, Lane Oke and Colbey Simunac. All three achieved the gold standard in the all-around with Weis at 84.60 points, Oke at 82.90 and Simunac at 81.60. All-around is the combined scores in the six apparatus men compete on - vault, pommel horse, parallel bars, rings, horizontal high bar and floor exercise.
Meanwhile, there were eight girls from the competitive stream taking part in the Aloha meet, while three teams of recreational athletes enjoyed performing in a Gymnaestrada, an inter-club fun-filled event.
Four Prince George gymnasts competed in the Provincial 1 (P1) tyro division, with Hannah Gould placing second in the all around (accumulated scores from vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise), while Kayla Hanson was third, Madison Boomhower was fifth and Paige Bryant finished seventh. Hanson also earned the gold medal on vault.
Shannon Fairservice finished placed first in the all around among P1 novice athletes, which included gold medals on bars and floor.
In the P2 division for athletes 12 and over, Amy Hackle was third in the all around and Lindsay Van Mook placed fifth. Hackle picked up the gold medal on bars.
Jaymie Hinks competed in P3 open, placing first on vault, floor and in the all around. Hinks also had a second-place finish on beam and was third on bars.
