Simone Groundwater took the tournament title out of town.

Groundwater and her foursome from Williams Lake swept to victory at the Integris Credit Union Mixed Bonspiel, held at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club on the weekend.

In the 16-team round-robin event, Groundwater was the 'A' event winner. Her team was rounded out by third Ryan Bailey, second Laura Ball and lead Robert Gundranson.

In the 'B' event, a Prince George rink skipped by Owen Mathison topped the standings. Mathison's teammates were third Joanne Rebagliatti, second Rick Mintz and lead Karen Humphries.

Games were played Saturday and Sunday. Bonspiel sponsors included Integris, Dr. Larry Anderson, Starbucks/Cidney Comparelli, Michaels Arts and Crafts, Strike Zone, Goodlife Fitness and Chinook Yoga.

"They mostly gave us the bigger door prizes, so that part was just awesome," said Kim Siebel, one of the organizers.

"I really appreciated the community support. I thought it was great."

The next major event on the PGGCC schedule is the Kelly Cup, March 31 to April 3. The Kelly, now in its 89th year, will be held in conjunction with the club's Ladies Bonspiel, April 1-3.
