The Prince George Grays senior baseball team is in Nanaimo this weekend chasing down provincial gold.
The Grays are entered in the 10-team PWB senior provincial championship, hosted by the Nanaimo Coal Miners.
The schedule-makers gave the Grays a break, realizing they have the furthest distance to travel and did not schedule any of their games for Friday. Prince George opens today at 9 a.m. against the Trail Orioles, followed by 3 p.m. encounter with the Coquitlam Angels.
The Grays finish up the preliminary round Sunday at 3 p.m. against Nanaimo.
Playoffs follow Sunday evening with the second- and third-place teams in both pools crossing over.
The winners move on to the semifinals against the two first-place teams Monday at 9 a.m., followed by the final at 12:30 p.m.
The winner will represent B.C. in the 2017 Baseball Canada Senior Championship.
