Prince George Cougars goaltending prospect Tavin Grant is now a member of the crosstown Prince George Spruce Kings.

The Western Hockey League's Cougars assigned Grant to the B.C. Hockey League's Spruce Kings on Thursday. The transaction led the junior A Kings to deal goalie Liam McCloskey, 18, to the Whitecourt Wolverines of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In that deal, the Spruce Kings received future considerations.

Grant, also 18, went through training camp and preseason with the Cougars. He played last season for the Kamloops Storm of the Kootenay International Junior (B) Hockey League. With the Storm, Grant had an 8-4 record, one shutout, a 2.22 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage.

In a separate move on Thursday, the Cougars sent forward Reid Perepeluk to the major-midget Cariboo Cougars.
