The rematch is on.
The Prince George Gnats are determined to prove they're a better team than the one that lost 33-0 to the Williams Lake Rustlers two weeks ago in Williams Lake.
The Gnats will get that chance on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m., at Kelly Road secondary school field.
"This weekend is the most important game of the season," said Gnats outside centre Dave McMullen. "They are our biggest competition and they have been for most of the history of the Gnats.
The Gnats were not at full strength in Williams Lake and McMullen promises they will throw a few new wrinkles at the Rustlers on Saturday. There should be no shortage of players this time around. McMullen expects 20 or 25 players will be available to the Gnats for the 15-a-side game Saturday.
The Gnats are coming off a pair of victories on the road last weekend. They topped the Prince Rupert Seamen 30-28 and also beat the Terrace Northmen 22-5 to even their Central Interior Rugby Union record at 2-2. The Rustlers are a perfect 1-0 so far in CIRU play.
The Gnats will be practicing tonight at 6 p.m. at Edgewood elementary school, 4440 Craig Rd.
