One bite at a time, the Prince George Gnats have been drawing blood from their opponents this season.

The Gnats, a local men's rugby team, have rumbled to a 6-2 record in tournament play and a lone league game. Today, they'll see if they can avoid being swatted by an equally-talented club, the Williams Lake Rustlers. The Gnats and Rustlers, who compete in the Central Interior Rugby Union, will be on the field at Kelly Road secondary school starting at 11 a.m.

"(The Rustlers) are our stiffest competition in our league," said Dave McMullen, an outside centre for the Gnats.

"They've got a lot of young guys, they're a fit team and they do play pretty hard. Up here in the north, it's a bit more straight-up -- kind of smash-mouth. They definitely play the same game we do so it's going to be a good game."
