It's the Prince George girls sitting on top of their respective pools after the first two draws at the Tim Hortons 2013 B.C. Juvenile Curling championship.
The teams of Diamond Wilson and Alyssa Connell are each sporting 2-0 records after the first day of competition at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club. In their second draws Friday, Team Wilson edged Sydney Hofer 6-5, stealing the win when the Vernon skip came up light on her lost rock, while Connell just needed a takeout with her final stone to improve to 2-0.
Team Wilson consists of third Carly Connor, second Jessie Withey and lead Erin Ross. Team Connell is made up of third Jordan Henson, second Jennilee Slaney and lead Julianne Slaney.
On the boys side, the Prince George team wasn't so fortunate. Dustin Withey skipped his foursome - third Brendan Carswell, second Coleton Vriesendorp and lead James Brown - to a 1-1 record after the first day of competition.
Team Withey shot 60 per cent in a 9-5 win over Jay Ueda's North Shore Winter Club team in their morning draw but the boys came unglued in their second game falling 11-2 to Zane Bartlett and his Grand Forks team.
The good news for Withey is all four teams in Pool B have 1-1 records with one draw left to play before playoffs. Team Withey will face Coquitam skip Kyle Habkirk this morning (8:30).
Wilson faces Marika Van Osch and her Juan de Fuca curling team in her final pool draw while Connell will be up against Delta skip Sarah Daniels.
Tiebreakers, if necessary, and the semifinal will be played today while the boys and girls final games are slated for Sunday, 9:30 a.m.
