The 2015 Canada Winter Games is hanging up the help wanted sign.

The organizing committee is seeking volunteers who are interested in managing and volunteering within official sport and non-sport venues a year from now, Feb. 13 - March 1, 2015.

The 2015 Games has held games services managers and venue operations team 101 sessions at CNC to educate the public about these critical roles. The last one is tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. in Rm. 1-723.

Anyone who is currently signed up in the volunteer database for the 2015 Games is invited to attend, as are newly interested volunteers.

The venue operations team is comprised of volunteer hosts from all the functional areas such as sport, media relations, ceremonies, security, transportation, food services, IT and equipment, environmental services, and VIP hosting. The team members act as representatives for their service and manage the team at that venue (for example, a media services representative at the CN Centre) for two weeks of the Games, ensuring that the venue has all of the things it needs to carry out media operations at CN Centre.

"People who volunteer on a venue team become very close-knit," said volunteer workforce manager Christine Nicholls. "They become like an operational family, welcoming guests into the venues, and ensuring all of those specific services within the building are operating at their top potential. It's a unique role because you get to work and manage your volunteer specialization, while at the same time, being deployed to a specific venue where your favourite sport may be at."

Those interested are encourage to attend the 101 session at CNC to ask questions and learn more. You can RSVP to [email protected] or simply attend.
