Former Prince George high school basketball star Kayla Gregory captained the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners to victory at the 2023 CCAA Women’s Basketball Championships in Hamilton, Ontario this past weekend.
The Mariners defeated the Geants de Saint-Jean 60-54 in the final with Gregory, a Duchess Park graduate, chipping in four points in 31 minutes on the court. The 5’11” forward is in her fourth year with the team, based out of Nanaimo.
Prince George’s Luke Holmes is an assistant coach with the Mariners.
