Former Kings, Cougars coach Marquette dies

Dale Marquette, a former Prince George Cougars and Spruce Kings coach, has died. Marquette was born in Prince George and played minor hockey in the city before advancing to the Western Hockey League.

Marquette was born in Prince George and played minor hockey in the city before advancing to the Western Hockey League.

He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks, eventually returning to Prince George.

Marquette earned the respect of players and fans during his tenure in the mid 1990s and helped to raise two Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League championship banners.

He also coached the Cougars in 1995-96, Spruce Kings and later the Quesnel Millionaires.
