Former Cariboo Cougar Jandric now playing in AHL

The top-ranked NCAA defenceman signed with Rochester Americans on March 27.

Playing his first American Hockey League game for the Rochester Americans, the top farm team of the Buffalo Sabres, the 24-year-old Jandric assisted on the winning goal for his first pro point in a 5-1 win over the Utica Comets.

Jandric signed with Rochester March 27 after a spectacular season playing in the NCAA for the University of North Dakota. He finished in the top-five in NCAA defenceman scoring with 33 points in 39 games. He led all National Collegiate Hockey Conference blueliners with three goals and 21 points in 24 games and was named a NCHC First Team All-Star.

The Fighting Hawks season ended March 17 in a 3-2 overtime loss in the WCHC semifinal to St. Cloud State.

Rochester (36-25-3-5) is currently fourth in the Atlantic Division and has clinched a playoff spot with three games left in the season.

Jandric’s 25-year-old brother Steven plays in the East Coast Hockey League for the Worcester Railers and has also played 31 games this season in the AHL for the Springfield Thunderbirds.

The Jandrics played minor hockey in Prince George and were teammates on the Cariboo Cougars U-18s and in the BCHL with the Vernon Vipers. They also played together for two seasons at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks before the program folded in 2020.

Steven moved on the Denver University and Merrimack College before he turned pro with Worcester in 2021.
