First place on the line tonight in senior lacrosse

Since the season began in April, there hasn't been much separating the BX Pub Bandits from the Shooters Pub Devils. The standings pretty much tell the tale for the two Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association frontrunners.

Since the season began in April, there hasn't been much separating the BX Pub Bandits from the Shooters Pub Devils.

The standings pretty much tell the tale for the two Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association frontrunners.

With two games left in the season, the Bandits and Devils are deadlocked with 8-2 records. They meet tonight at Kin 1 in their final of four regular-season meetings. One of them will leave the floor tonight in the driver's seat, with first place virtually wrapped up.

The Devils have been dominant the past three seasons, winning the regular season and playoff titles all three seasons, and would dearly love to make it four in a row this summer. But they've had their hands full trying to contain the Bandits, who lost out in the first round of playoffs in 2009.

BX Pub has beaten Shooters in two of the previous three games this season and all but one of those games have been close. The first was decided by one goal, the second Shooters won in overtime, and in their most recent meeting, May 26, the Bandits rolled to an 11-6 victory.

"It should be a good game (tonight), they have a good team and they're playing well," said Shooters veteran Scott Anderson. "It seems like they have a bunch of guys committed to showing up every game.

"We haven't played our best game yet by any means but we're a pretty competitive bunch of guys and we should rise to the challenge. First place is riding on this game and it should be good."

Game time tonight is 8 p.m. The Assault (1-10) recorded its first win of the season Wednesday night, beating the Stylers 13-9 . Mike Quarin led the way for the Assault with three goals and five assists.
