Figure skaters sparkle at regionals

Athletes from the Northern B.C. Centre for Skating took away 10 gold, seven silver and five bronze medals at the CNC Regional Championships last weekend in Williams Lake. The Prince George-based club sent 21 skaters, who competed in 39 events.

In pre-novice men U16, Justin Hampole scored a personal best 63.46 points to win gold.

In pre-novice women U16, Mackenzie Manuel tallied a PB of 45.95 points to win bronze. Emma Bajestani was right behind her in fourth place, posting a PB of 43.76 points.

In pre-juvenile U14, Olivia Trampuh scored a PB of 24.93 points to win gold.

Shelby Scott tallied a PB of 19.09 points to finish fourth, while Olivia Wankling was fifth and Mary Chidiac followed in sixth place.

In the Star 5 U13 event, Myah Milner posted a PB of 18.67 points to win gold, followed by Jayna Mason, who scored a PB of 16.08 points to win silver. Mason was first in the junior artistic award.

In the Star 5 U10 event, Audyn Mettauer won silver after posting a PB of 14.97 points. Ally Norum won bronze with a PB of 14.79 points.

In the Star 4 group 1 event, Kailey Logan was first, followed by Jessie Drover in second place. Erin Brown was fourth in Star 4 group 3.

In the Star 3 group 1 event, Jessie Harder and Sydney Hoar won silver, followed by Alex Callaway with bronze.

Reese Johnson won bronze in Star 3 group 2, while Hannah Jones won silver in group 3. Camilla Kilan won bronze in Star 2.

In the elements 1 event, Callaway was first in group 1, while Norum, Jessie Drover and Harder were first, second, and third respectively in group 2.

Hoar was second in group 3, while Brown finished third in group 5.

In elements 2, group 1, Wankling was first, followed by Milner in second, Mason in fifth and Mettauer in sixth. Shelby Scott was second in group 2, while Trampuh was third. Chidiac was fifth in group 3.

In elements 5, group 1, Hampole finished first, while Ceilidh Ross was first in group 2.

In introductory interpretive, Mettauer was fifth with 22.14 points and Wankling was eighth with 20.90 points. Chidiac was eighth in bronze interpretive with a score of 21.76 points.
