Prince George Cougars forward Todd Fiddler was named Western Hockey League player of the week on Monday.
For the week ending Jan. 12, Fiddler had five goals and nine points in four games. He became the first member of the Cougars to receive the award this season.
Fiddler started his week with a five-point effort against the Seattle Thunderbirds last Tuesday at CN Centre. His three goals and two assists came during a wild 9-7 loss. On Wednesday, in a 2-1 shootout loss to the T-birds, he picked up an assist.
Then, on Friday in Vancouver, the 20-year-old Fiddler recorded an assist in a 6-5 setback against the Giants. The next night, in Kamloops, he fired two goals in a 4-3 shootout decision against the Blazers.
Fiddler was acquired by the Cougars from the Moose Jaw Warriors in early November. In 26 games with the Cats, he has posted 22 goals and 44 points. Currently, he's tied for 10th in league scoring with Leon Draisaitl of the Prince Albert Raiders. Both players have 54 points.
