Trevor Sakamoto and his son Gabe, two generations of Prince George judokas, competed at the fifth annual Grassroots Judo, youth, team and kata national championships in Honolulu, Hawaii last week.
Gabe lost both of his matches, one against an American athlete and one against a Japanese athlete in the intermediate -26-kilogram boys division.
Trevor won both of his matches by a full point (instant point) to win gold in the masters men -73kg division.
Trevor and Gabe train at the North Capital Judo Club.
