Running with the Olympic torch in Quesnel ‘part of history’ for P.G. man

The cost of keeping an Olympic torch was $345, plus tax.

Dirk Robson had no second thoughts about shelling out the cash.

"For me, there was no doubt," said Robson, a 39-year-old Prince George resident who took part in Quesnel's torch relay last Friday afternoon. "(The torch) is part of history. My kids go to Foothills elementary and they're having an Olympic day on Feb. 12 so I'm going to go to the school in my torchbearer uniform, with the torch, and I'll let all the kids in the school experience it as well -- see it, touch it, right when the Olympics are opening. I just think it's a great thing to have and a memory that will last forever."
