Dallas Ehrhardt was acquired Thursday by the Prince George Cougars in a swap of defencemen.
The Cougars added the 20-year-old Calgary product via a trade with the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for 19-year-old Reid Jackson and a seventh round Western Hockey League bantam draft pick in 2013.
Wade Klippenstein, Cougars assistant general manager and director of player personal, said bringing in Ehrhardt will help the younger players on the blueline and create some competition for the three overage spots.
"We feel that we've got some very good young defencemen returning to our team but we want to make sure we have some older leadership and Dallas is a guy who played a pretty important role with Moose Jaw this year," said Klippenstein. "He's a big strong player that will help out a lot with our younger defencemen."
By adding Ehrhardt the Cougars now have four 20-year-olds on their roster, including forwards Greg Fraser and Brock Hirsche and defenceman Dan Gibb.
