Local alpine skiers Hayes Layton and Charlotte Gibson went up against Canada's best young downhillers in Collingwood, Ont., on Tuesday.
At the Sport Chek Under-16 Championships, Layton placed 22nd in super G and Gibson was 54th. Both are members of Team B.C. for the championships.
Giant slalom, slalom and dual slalom events are set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
