Devils try to rebound in Game 2

The College Heights Pub Assault showed why they're the two-time defending champions in the Prince George Senior Lacrosse League last week when they defeated the upstart Shooters Pub Devils in the first game of the best-of-five series.

Game 2 goes tonight, 8 p.m. at the Coliseum as the Devils try to tie the series up at one-game apiece.

The Assault won the first game 20-7 despite playing with only nine men against a Devils team that had just come off an upset win Monday night over in Game 4 of their semifinal with the regular-season champion BX Pub Bandits.

The winner of the best-of-five series, shortened for the usual best-of-seven final due to a lack of arena space as the ice is slated to return to the Coliseum on July 23, will capture the Dale Roluffs Memorial trophy. The league champion will also earn the right to represent Prince George at the B.C. senior C championship in New Westminster and Coquitlam, Aug. 9-11.

Last year, the Assault passed on the senior C championships, which allowed the runner-up Bandits to represent Prince George in their place.

The Assault have won nine straight playoff games dating back to last season's four game sweep of the Bandits.
