Devils advance to lacrosse final

After losing just two of 12 regular season games in 2013, maybe that gave the BX Pub Bandits a false sense of security.

After losing just two of 12 regular season games in 2013, maybe that gave the BX Pub Bandits a false sense of security.

Once the playoffs began the Shooters Pub Devils, who went 4-8 in the regular season, found ways to disrupt the Bandits' winning routine and as a result have booked themselves a berth in the Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association championship series.

The Devils blasted the Bandits 15-9 Monday night at the Coliseum to win the best-of-five semifinal series three games to one to advance to the league final. Shooters will take on the two-time defending champion College Heights Pub Assault in a best-of-five series that starts Wednesday night.

Danton Nicholson held the hot stick Monday for the Devils with four goals and four assists. Brent McIsaac and Andre Baldo each spiced the offence with three goals, while Scott Anderson found the net twice. The Bandits had trouble beating goalie Steven Brizan, who played consistently well throughout the series. Mike Quarin had four goals and two assists to lead all Bandits on the scoresheet.

The final to determine the winner of the Dale Roluffs Memorial Trophy has been shortened to a best-of-five series from the traditional best-of-seven final because of a lack of arena availability due to the current construction of Kin 1.
