Dakus, Sergeev skate to provincial gold

In fact, it was nearly a podium sweep for Spruce City Skating Club athletes who entered the gold triathlon event last weekend at the Pacific STARSkate championships in Kamloops.

Katie Dakus of Prince George won the event with 85.09 points, while her Spruce City clubmate Jennifer Migabo (67.87) came home with bronze.

Leigh Siemens of Houston, who trains with the Prince George Figure Skating Club, shared the gold triathlon spotlight with Dakus and Migabo, winning the silver medal (84.35).

Figure skating triathlons consist of three events -- creative skills, interpretive skills and the free skate.

Soleil Gagne of Spruce City totaled 85.55 points to capture the silver triathlon silver medal. Gagne was 1.67 behind gold-medalist Evan Lochhead of North Surrey.

Ekatarina Sergeev of Spruce City won the bronze triathlon competition with 85.65 points, while Danielle Sidworth of Spruce City was fifth (67.76).
