'Cudas tackle world trials

Prince George Barracudas Swim Club members Danica Ludlow and Katie Mann took advantage of a fast field of swimmers Friday at the world championship trials and 5km open water national pool championships in Victoria.

Ludlow set a new club record while finishing 21st in the 1,500-metre freestyle event with a time of 17:50.96, while Katie Mann broke the 'Cudas 100m backstroke record in 1:08.43, placing 55th overall.

Mann also tied the club record of 1:16.93 in the 100m backstroke, posting a 43rd-place finish. She was 31st in the 400 individual medley (5:07:01) and placed 44th in the 50m breaststroke (35.52). Ludlow was 58th in the 100m freestyle (59.40), 30th in the 200m freestyle (2:05.81) and 53rd in the 100m backstroke (1:08.26).
