Cudas swimmers grand at Grande Prairie meet

The Prince George Barracudas were pool predators. Members of the local swim club were in Grande Prairie on the weekend for the Northern Lights Invitational meet and stroked their way to 38 first-place finishes and a total of 60 top-three results.

Members of the local swim club were in Grande Prairie on the weekend for the Northern Lights Invitational meet and stroked their way to 38 first-place finishes and a total of 60 top-three results. The Barracudas, with 3,079 points, placed second out of 10 teams, behind only Fort St. John (3,079).

Individually, Haley Black broke her own club record in the 200-metre butterfly for 13- and 14-year-old girls. Her new mark was two minutes 25.63 seconds, which was more than a second faster than her previous best (2:26.69).

Other Barracudas swimmers at the meet were Josiah Binnema, Richard Dockrill, Montana Forster, Patricia Fortier, Ethan Godden, Bailey Hardy, Sterling King, Danica Ludlow, Claire Shrimpton, Jessa Wing and Sava Yungman.

The next meet for the club is the Swim B.C. double-A championships, in Chilliwack this coming weekend.
