The Prince George Barracudas placed second among the eight teams that attended at the annual Dental Moose meet they hosted last weekend.
For the majority of the 94 Barracuda swimmers it was their first long course meet of the season and head coach Jerzy Partyka said he was satisfied with the results of his swimmers.
There were 371 personal bests set by Barracudas in the Prince George Aquatic Centre pool during the three-day meet. Club records that were broken included Mackenzie Lewington setting new marks in the 10-and-under-boys 200m freestyle (2:45.63) and the 50m breaststroke (45.87); Sterling King in the 15-17 boys 50m freestyle (24.87); Hannah Esopenko in the 11-12 girls 50m breaststroke (36.84); and the 4x50 medley relay team of Harrison Lagzdin, Aiden Kim, Josiah Binnema and King (1:52.12)
The swim team from Points North placed first overall with the Barracudas in second followed by Fort St. John, Chetwynd, Quesnel, Williams Lake, Grande Prairie and Halifax.
The next meet for some of the Barracudas is May 24-25 at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Canada Games girls: Haley Black and Danica Ludlow will be among the 16 swimmers Team B.C. takes to the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Que., Aug. 6-17. The swimming competition takes place during the first week of the Games.
