Shaun Dosanjh whistled a shot from the point with less than a second left in overtime to lift the Prince George Cougars to a 5-4 win Friday afternoon over the Calgary Hitmen in a preseason game played in Red Deer.
Cougars rookie centre Adam Kadlec won the draw in the Hitmen end and Dosanjh buried the puck past goalie Kyle Dumba.
Jesse Gabrielle scored two goals for the Cougars, including the opener 5:32 into the game. Tyler Ho and Ethan O'Rourke, who potted the equalizer with four minutes left in regulation time, also scored for the Cats. Jansen Harkins finished with two assists.
Russian import Vladislav Yeromenko picked up two goals and an assist to lead the Hitmen. Matt Dorsey and Dawson Martin, the older brother of Cougars defenceman Max, notched the other Calgary goals.
Nick McBride and 15-year-old rookie Taylor Gauthier combined to make 38 saves as the Cougars were outshot 42-25. Cody Porter and Dumba handled the netminding duties for Calgary.
The Cougars resume their preseason schedule this afternoon (1 p.m. PT) in Red Deer against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
