Cougars forward Craig Armstrong has been traded to the Red Deer Rebel for three draft picks.

Craig Armstrong is now a member of the Red Deer Rebels.

The 19-year-old centre/left winger from Crossfield, Alta., was traded Tuesday to the Rebels for three picks in the WHL Prospects Draft – a second-rounder in 2023, a fourth-rounder in 2024 and a fifth-rounder in 2025.

Armstrong was a first-round choice of the Cougars in 2018 and has since played three seasons for the Cats. Last season was his most productive and he had 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points in 67 games.

The trade brings him closer to his hockey roots in Alberta, where he was a scoring star with the Airdrie Xtreme U-15 team.
