Brett Zarowny made 30 saves in the Prince George Cougars net but it wasn't enough as the Kamloops Blazers were too much for the young Cats, notching a 3-0 win at the Interior Savings Centre.
Blazers goalie Cole Cheveldave hasn't lost to the Cougars in two seasons and snuffed out all 23 shots he faced for his second shutout of the Western Hockey League season. The 19-year-old has an 18-5-1 record
The Blazers opened the scoring during a four-on-four break early in the first period when Marek Hrbas beat Zarowny. Colin Smith scored a power-play marker in the second and newly acquired defenceman Joel Edmundson added a third period goal.
The loss is the Cougars (10-15-1-4) third against the Blazers (23-7-3) this season. All three meetings between the B.C. divisions rivals have been in Kamloops.
The Cougars are in Kelowna tonight, 7 p.m., where they'll try to end the Rockets 11-game home win streak.
