The Prince George Cougars announce 2007-born forward Aiden Foster, the 61st selection overall in the 2022 WHL prospects draft, has signed with them.

“Aiden had a very strong training camp and is just scratching the surface of his potential,” Bob Simmonds, Cougars director of scouting, said.

“Every time he is on the ice, you see another element in his game. Aiden is a bigger body player who brings energy and skill to the table each shift and he is a strong competitor. In camp, you could see how well Aiden meshed with both the veterans and other prospects.”

The six-foot tall forward from Lloydminster, AB, spent the 2021-22 season as the captain of the Lloydminster Bobcats U15 AAA team.

Foster finished the season with 50 points (29G-21A) in 32 games played. Foster was also a member of Team Black at the 2022 Alberta Cup and scored the shootout winner in the championship game.

Foster is a familiar name in Cougars history, as Aiden’s father Aaron played for the Cats from 1999-2003.

“We are very excited to welcome Aiden to the Cougars and with his dad Aaron being an alumnus of the Cougars, we are very happy to welcome the entire Foster family to the Cougars,” Simmonds added.

The Cougars kick off their four-game pre-season schedule, beginning this weekend when they take on the Vancouver Giants (Friday) and the Victoria Royals (Saturday) at the Jon Baillie Arena in Port Coquitlam, both at 7 p.m.
