Cougars rookie phenom picked for Top Prospects Game

Cougars rookie right winger Terik Parascak leads all WHL rookies with 26 goals and 52 points through 33 games.

Christmas came a little early for Prince George Cougars forward Terik Parascak.

On Tuesday, a day after he was named rookie of the week in the Western Hockey League for the fourth time this season, the 17-year-old Lethbridge native learned he’s among 18 WHL skaters selected to the NHL/CHL Top Prospects Game Jan. 24 in in Moncton, N.B.

Forward Cayden Lindstrom (Medicine Hat Tigers), a native of Chetwynd, was also among the 40 players picked.

Parascak went into the Christmas break on a tear, collecting three goals and four assists for seven points in three games last week. He now has 26 goals and 26 assists in 33 games this season and his 52 points rank seventh in the WHL and 10th in the Canadian Hockey League.

Cougar forwards Zac Funk (36 goals, 63 points) and Riley Heidt (63 points) lead the WHL and CHL in scoring.

The Top Prospects game showcases 40 of the country’s top players from the WHL, Ontario Hockey League and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League.
