Realistically, the Prince George Cougars had known for weeks that the playoffs were out of their reach.

Ex-Cat Ian Curtis and the rest of the Portland Winterhawks made it official Saturday night at CN Centre. When the Winterhawks beat the Cougars 3-1, Prince George was officially eliminated from playoff contention in the WHL.

"Obviously our expectations were a lot higher here and for whatever reason, the things that have happened and our inconsistent play, that's why we are where we are," said Cougars head coach Dean Clark. "We're going to use the rest of the season to get better and really look at the players that we have here and see who the guys are that we want to come back."
