Goals came at a premium Friday night in Everett and it took overtime to decide it.

Everett Silvertips defenceman Kevin Davis got credit for the deciding goal 3:21 into overtime on a 2-on-1 break but he wasn't the last one to touch the puck which locked up a 2-1 victory. Diving Cougar Brad Morrison, tried to prevent Davis from passing to his teammate but instead redirected the puck past Cougar goalie Edmonds, the first of the season for Davis.

Edmonds made several quality stops in the five-minute overtime, the first time this season the Cougars have played an opponent 3-on-3.

The Silvertips were first to strike, but that didn't happen until the 4:53 mark of the third period, when Everett captain Dawson Leedahl snapped a shot past Ty Edmonds. Just two minutes later, Brogan O'Brien hooked up with linemate Morrison to tie the game at 7:07 - the sixth of the season for O'Brien - on a play started by Cougar captain Sam Ruopp.

Jared Bethune had the best Cougar chance 2:20 into OT on a redirected shot but Silvertips goalie Carter Hart made the save. Edmonds was outstanding and at times spectacular in a 36-save loss. The Cougars were outshot 38-24 in the game and 6-1 in the overtime session.

Everett went 0-for-5 on the power play, while the Cougars were 0-for-4.

The Silvertips improved to 7-4-0-1, while the Cougars, who play tonight in Kamloops, picked up a point and now sport an 8-6-1-0 record.

LOOSE PUCKS: Missing from the Cougars lineup were without D Tate Olson (upper-body injury), C Jansen Harkins (sick), and D Max Martin (shoulder surgery). Everett scratched D Lukas Skrumeda (upper-body)... The Cougars continue their roadtrip tonight in Kamloops against the Blazers, who defeated the Giants 2-1 Friday night in Vancouver. The Blazers won't have D Nolan Kneen (playing in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge)... Former Cougar F Aaron Macklin, now with the Regina Pats, was suspended for five games after making contact with the head of Regina Pats Jayden Halbgewachs during a game in Regina Oct. 31. Halbgewachs is now sidelined with a concussion. The league considered the severity of the injury and Macklin's history as a repeat offender when handing out the suspension. The Cougars traded Macklin, 20, to Regina on Sept. 21 for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2016 WHL bantam draft.
