Cougars make a pair of moves ahead of weekend road trip

Cougars bring up Zachary Shantz, send Gavin Schmidt back to AEHL

The Prince George Cougars made a couple moves on Tuesday, prior to heading out on a six-game road trip this weekend.
The Cats have brought up forward Zachary Shantz from the Northern Alberta Xtreme in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League Under 18 Prep Division.
The 16-year-old from Sucker Creek, Alta., signed with the Cats in September after being drafted the Prince George in the third round of the 2020 WHL draft.
Shantz stands five-foot-10, weighs 145 pounds and has notched 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 13 games for the Xtreme.
In a corresponding move, Gavin Schmidt has been sent back to the Okotoks Bow Mark Oilers, in the Alberta Elite Hockey League’s Under 18 AAA division.
The Cougars hit the road this week, starting with a game against the Kelowna Rockets on Saturday.
Forwards Riley Heidt and Ryker Singer won’t be joining the Cougars in Kelowna this weekend. The pair are playing in the Capital City Challenge in Ottawa, which runs from Saturday to Dec. 1.
