Cougars double up Giants in preseason opener in Port Coquitlam

Four different goal scorers and 22 saves from goalie Ty Young was the recipe needed for the Prince George Cougars first pre-season victory against Vancouver Giants by a 4-2 score in Port Coquitlam Friday night.

Four different goal scorers and 22 saves from goalie Ty Young was the recipe needed for the Prince George Cougars first pre-season victory against Vancouver Giants by a 4-2 score in Port Coquitlam Friday night.

Terik Parascak got the first goal and he was unassisted at 11:18 in the first period.

On a Cougar power play Ethan Samson scored with an assist from Keaton Dowhaniuk at 13:29.

The Giants Sammy May scored at 14:49.

During the second period, off a broken play in front of the goal, Hudson Thornton was able to slide it through the legs of goalie Hood to make it 3-1. Thornton’s first of the pre-season was assisted by Ephram McNutt at 10:26.

The Giants answered that when Mazden Leslie scored with an assist by Justin Ivanusecat at 15:13

During the third period with the Giants net empty, Carlin Dezainde got the puck into the net from the left circle to make it 4-2. Dezainde’s empty netter was assisted by Carter MacAdams and Zachary Shantz at 19:06.

The Cougars play against the Victoria Royals Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Port Coquitlam.
